Deepak G. Nair MD MS MHA RVT FACS is Chief of Vascular Surgery, Chair of Vascular Quality Improvement, and Chair of Medical Education at Sarasota Memorial Healthcare. He is one of the few actively Double Board-Certified surgeons in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery in the country. He is an educator, advisor, and mentor to medical (FSU, UF, USF), nursing (FSU, USF), college, and high school students. Dr Nair is a Partner at Sarasota Vascular Specialists.
Dr. Nair has garnered many other professional honors and accolades, including President of the Florida Vascular Society; President of the Florida American College of Surgeons, President of the Sarasota County Medical Society, Governor of the American College of Surgeons, Chair of the Section on Outpatient and Office Based Vascular Care of the Society for Vascular Surgery, and appointed to governing Boards for many different organizations. He is currently President-elect for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission Vascular Interventional organization which accredits hospitals and organizations that provide vascular care to patients nationally and internationally. He is regularly honored as a ‘Top Doctor,’ ‘Top Surgeon,’ and ‘Best Surgeon’ by numerous different organizations. Dr. Nair grew up in Manhattan where he split time between Public and Parochial schools. He attended the prestigious Bronx High School of Science and then graduated magna cum laude from the City College of New York. Dr. Deepak Nair received his medical education at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where he was a member of the AOA honors society.
Despite the grueling workload of his general surgical residency at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Nair was still able to study for and graduate with a Masters in Healthcare Administration as well as Masters of Science in Clinical Research. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, where he was instrumental in developing Spine technology at the Yerkes Primate Laboratory with Orthopedic surgeons and Venous Valve technology with graduate students at Georgia Tech.
Dr. Nair’s clinical skills include all aspects of vascular care including aneurysms, artery disease, vein disease, lymphatic pathology, and photomedicine. He performed the first minimally invasive repair of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm and Aortic Dissection, respectively, in the area. He has a strong interest in complex vascular problems and Laser technology.
